Boracay's entryway

After a couple of years, international flights have returned to Kalibo International Airport, serving as the entryway to world-renowned Boracay Island.

Last June 17, 2022, Friday night, an Air Seoul flight from Incheon, South Korea, landed and was marked the recommencement of direct international flights announced by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)-Kalibo.

Aklan Gov. Florencio Miraflores instigated the proposed resumption of international flights at Kalibo Airport as early as December 2021. Still, the hazard of the Covid-19 Omicron variant stood in the way.

Direct international flights are perceived to bring in additional guests from South Korea, which are among the leading foreign visitors to the country's most famous beach destination.
