Sandcastles opens new chapter in elegant Boracay beachfront living.

Sandcastles-The Apartments, Boracay's first truly five-star beachfront apartment units for short and long stay, opened its doors officially in June 2005 as Boracay Sandcastles Beach Resort converts to a first class boutique resort. Sandcastles-The Apartments, made up of four 1-bedroom and three 2-bedroom units with uninterrupted views of the beautiful white beach through its frameless glass balconies, sets a new standard for accommodation in Boracay.

One bedroom units are 60 square meters and that does not calculate the area taken up by the wide balconies and terraces of each apartment unit. The two bedroom units are 70, 90 and 130 square meters- the latter a double-level penthouse with a huge roof terrace.

You'll want to take the kitchens home-- black granite bench tops contrast with the mahogany-style cupboards and shelves, stashed with the essentials to convert your fresh catch into a gastronomic delight.

The bathrooms are glass wonders-- with glass hand basins and vanities. Glass shower recesses have a Balinese twist-- vertical showers that rain down on tiled islets surrounded by river rocks.

Furniture features one-off exhibition pieces, giving each apartment its own distinctive character. The beds-- Japanese style-- are hand-crafted. There's cable TV, full-time internet, DVD.

Though upmarket, Sandcastles has not lost is charm-- nor its tribal touch that has been its hallmark. Boracay Sandcastles Beach Resort has a mere six deluxe native bungalows and the seven apartments, each named after a Philippine tribe-- Aeta, Tagbanua, Ibaloi, Kankanay, Maranaw, Mandaya, and Hanuno'o.

* Aeta- maximum of three (3) persons including children. A spacious 57 square meters, one-bedroom absolute beachfront apartment with terrace located on the ground floor. This unit comes with a fully furnished living room, well-equipped kitchen, dining room, Balinese-style bath with a view to the beach and split, silent individual air-conditioning.

* Tagbanua-maximum of two (2) persons only. Also situated on the ground floor, this fully furnished 56 sqm. one-bedroom absolute beachfront apartment with terrace comes with a fully furnished living room, well-appointed kitchen, dining room, Balinese-style bath with a view to the beach and split, silent individual airconditioning.

* Kankanay-maximum of three (3) adults only. This 2nd floor fully furnished absolute beachfront one-bedroom apartment boasts a spacious floor space of 57 sqm. The unit is complemented with a terrace , a cozy living room, well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and Balinese-style bath with split, silent individual airconditioning.

* Mandaya-maximum of two (2) adults only.Situated on the 2nd floor, this fully furnished 44 sqm. one bedroom apartment on the 2nd floor comes with the following facilities and amenities: a cozy living room, fully equipped kitchen,dining room and a Balinese-style bath and split, silent individual air-conditioning.

* Maranaw- maximum four (4) adults only. This absolute beachfront and corner apartment is the pick of the crop on the 2nd floor overlooking the beautiful White Beach. This fully furnished 93 sqm. two-bedroom apartment with L-shaped terrace, large enough for the whole Maranaw tribe, comes with a comfortable living room that can accommodate a large clan's overflowing offspring, a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious dining area for six, a Balinese-style bath and split, silent individual air-conditioning.
